IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACRYLIC AND POLYCARBONATE?

Acrylic is a light, strong, flexible plastic that is available in a range of colours and finishes. Polycarbonate is a clear material and is a little more expensive; it does scratch more easily, but is virtually unbreakable.

CAN I DRILL MY OWN HOLES IN THE ACRYLIC ON SITE?

Yes you can drill your own holes on site, using a regular battery type drill with a standard spiral bit suitable for wood. Keep the drill speed relatively low, and take your time when drilling through. Keep clearing the cut acrylic from the hole, and put a piece of scrap wood directly beneath the acrylic.

HOW DO I CLEAN ACRYLIC?

We would recommend using just warm, slightly soapy water. Some household cleaning sprays can be too harsh for acrylic and discolouration/ crazing may be caused.

WHAT IS THE FIRE RATING OF ACRYLIC AND POLYCARBONATE?

Cast acrylic has a class 3 fire rating

Extruded acrylic has a class 4 fire rating

Polycarbonate has a class 1 fire rating

CAN I HAVE ACRYLIC BEHIND MY HOB/COOKER?

We don’t recommend using acrylic behind a hob or cooker as it is a potential fire risk. We would recommend aluminium composite which is available in white, brushed steel and various colours.
